Mike

Mike's musical endeavors began at age nine when he joined the elementary school orchestra as the only viola player. He started singing while a high school senior and discovered barbershop while a freshman at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR)- thanks to a superb performance from Special Feature (Raymond's former quartet).

Mike sang in the first FWD High School Quartet contest with the Four Knights, followed by a six-year stint with the Wildcards quartet and then with Qyduhmix, FWD finalists and 2000/2001 NorCal East/NorNev Division champions. More recently, he sang with Raymond in the 2003 FWD Championship quartet, Q.

He has been a featured soloist in several choral productions and barbershop shows in Reno. Mike is proud to be affiliated with the Reno Silver Dollar Chorus and was an active member of the chorus for over 15 years. He has held numerous leadership positions in the chorus and has served as the assistant director and bass and lead section leader.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in political science and geography, a music minor, and an Master of Science in geography - all from UNR. He works for the Nevada State Legislature as a Principal Legislative Analyst and lives in Reno with his lovely wife Amanda; three-year old daughter, Allison; two-year old daughter, Melanie; and dog, Corkey.
